Hyner View Challenge - April 18, 2009

A rugged endurance event that is a challenge to the body, mind and spirit, not for the faint of heart!!

The Hyner View Challenge attracted over 650 participants from across the country, runners and hikers, with another 175 gathered at WCSA to launch the event. A large contingent of campers cheered them on their way.
A welcome back post-race party was hosted by Western Clinton Sportmen's Association.

This is a great opportunity to meet fellow trail enthusiasts. Hyner View Challenge is PA Wilds at its best and with over 200 already signed up, we are well on our way for another successful day.

2009 WCSA Gun Raffle

Tickets: $5 ea or 3 for $10 Drawing to be held Oct 11 at the Flaming Foliage Festival. Call or email WCSA for tickets or use a 3 x 5 index card cut to 3 x 1-5/8 and mark the top with 2009 Gun Raffle. Put your name, address(or use one of your thousands of address labels)and phone # and mail it in.

Junior Forest Steward Program - May 14th (“rain day” the 15th)

WCSA will host its third annual program aimed at grades 5 thru 7 at the local Bucktail School, and is usually attended by about 35 students. Its goal is to educate young people as to the role they will play in the future preservation of Pennsylvania’s great forest system. A full day of activities, including classroom and actual tree planting, will take place. The program is done in cooperation with the Pennsylvania State University School of Forestry.

3-D Archery Schedule for 2009 is as follows: June 21st, July 5th and 19th, August 2nd, 16th, and 30th, September 5th, 13th and 27th. Our 3-D course is one of the best in Pennsylvania and is as close to “real hunting” as you can get. Range opens at 7 AM and closes at noon. Bubba’s Burned and Blackened Burger Joint will once again be in operation.

2009 Kids Fishing Derby - May 16th

The fishing derby will be held at Hyner Run State Park and is for children 10 and under. There is no fee, and children get free dogs and drinks. Fishing starts at 12 Noon. Children must register the day of the derby so come early and just enjoy it all! WCSA will do a special stocking for the event, and we will also be stocking the Kids Fishing Area on the Saturday’s in May preceding the event.

Horseshoe Tournament - June 6th

Our First Annual Horseshoe Tournament will be held on June 6th at WCSA starting at 1 PM.
It will be a double elimination tournament. WCSA will provide the food, participants to provide drinks of their choice. Winners will get a one of a kind trophy. Entry fee is $10.00. Want to spend the entire weekend at the club? Camping for Friday thru Sunday is only $20.00 and will include use of WCSA showers. Jim Nevins famous Burned and Blackened Burger Joint will be open for business so be sure to bring your Rolaids along!

Prowl the Sproul Hiking Event - July 17th - 19th

This is a fun filled weekend event starting Friday evening with a Wine & Cheese party. The entire weekend of guided hikes, a kayak trip, campfires, great food and even greater time spent with friends promises to be a real blast.
